I have three children. They all have the same genes and have been parented in a very similar way, but they are very, very different. Is it nature? Is it nurture? I don’t know! But I do know that we are all different! We all have different strengths. We all have different weaknesses.
According to Gallup (formerly Clifton), people who know and use their strengths are:
- 6 x more likely to be engaged in their jobs
- 3 x as likely to report having an excellent quality of life
Furthermore, employees who receive strengths based development have:
- 7-23% higher employee engagement in the workforce
- 8-18% increased performance in the workforce
- 20-73% lower attrition.
Today I completed the CliftonStrengths Finder. I was excited to see that my strengths are: Futuristic; Strategic; Communication; Winning Others Over; Positivity. One of the main reasons that I was so excited was because I feel that these strengths align so perfectly to my job as a business strategist and coach.
Do you know what your strengths are? What your weaknesses are? How do you embrace them in your life? Your job?
Do you know what the strengths of those in your team are? How do you help your team use and develop their strengths?
